Why I’m broke but happy and you could be too

I don’t know about you, but I keep finding myself reading how articles about how to earn good sums of money on Medium.

Then I read articles about how Medium is not like it used to be and you can only earn money Medium if you link your output to some other activity that you do.

And finally, I read articles about how I should be on some other platform entirely if I want to follow the money.

I then end up all confused about what the hell I am meant to be doing. And why am I even on Medium anyway? Am I just going round in circles?

It’s my own fault. The Medium algorithm isn’t stupid. It’s clearly serving me content I have *shown* an interest in. Well, it’s true. I am interested in not starving and being able to support the kids but I am still naive enough about life to take genuine pleasure from earning even a cent off a sentence or two that I wrote.

So, don’t follow me if you want the money. I am still figuring that out. And whilst I figure it out, I write about it. When it comes down to it I get pleasure and joy from writing. I am living my dream. All I ever wanted to be from childhood was a writer. Who of us gets the chance to live out our dreams?
